Hi Everyone

We have been in Kenya since election day, things have been very bad although where we stay on
North Coast has escaped the fighting & demonstrations. On south coast where our schools are
has been terrible, petrol stations ransacked, houses, shops looted and burnt and we have to
pick our days when it is safe to travel there. We are having problems getting our new Secondary
children to schools, our own schools at the moment have escaped problems but there have been
schools ransacked on south coast.

It is awful in Nairobi and up country and we hear every day of more killings when people are
trying to have peaceful demonstrations against the election result. Some towns have been
totally burnt and it has taken them back 20 years. Mombasa and other areas near to us, every
day there are outbreaks of more violence.

We have families on south coast that have lost everything and we and our workers are trying to
rehouse them and get them the basics. We return on 27th Jan, we need to raise more money and
our Barn Dance on March 1st will be a good way of helping and also spreading the word for
further activities to help these poor people, who are in the hands of 2 men that both want
power and all the poor want is peace.

Mike and I feel very helpless and know we can't help everyone so we are focusing on our
families of our school children who have problems. The prices of food has been pushed sky high,
triple in some cases, many have lost jobs due to the drop in tourists and many business won't
re-open in fear of more violence.

Please help in any way you can, try and come on March 1st if you are local, I will be glad to
hear from anyone that can organise any small fund raising to help us here. Our kids still need
to go to school and be as "normal" as possible.

We hope that when this problem is resolved we will still be winning in our task to educate the
children. It seems peace may be a long time coming and we just have to do what we can.

Our faith in Kenya and the people that we help never falters, there are problems in all countries
and we just have to pray that these can be overcome soon.

Thanks for your concern please phoone me when I get home.

Love and wishes LInda & MIke xxxx
